A Starter Pack is recommended for first time users of tethered bilayer lipid membranes. It contains a complete set of equipment, reagents, cartridge assembly jigs and calibrator controls.

 

SDx tethaPod STARTER KIT

A kit contains:

  • 10 x tethPlate Tethered Membrane Cartridges (6 electrodes each)

    Each cartridge is made of a slide attached to a six well flow cell. The polycarbonate slides (25 x 75 x 1 mm) with six independently accessible gold electrodes are pre-coated with a chemically tethered benzyl-disulphide-bis- tetraethylene-glycol-mono-phytanyl lipid monolayer membrane on the gold surface.

     

     

    Coated slides are supplied in alcohol. Shelf life is greater than 12 months. All equipment required to assemble the cartridges is supplied.

  • One tethaPod Reader

    The SDx6v Impedance Reader produces a 20mV AC signal with a frequency range from 1 Hertz to 10000 Hertz. Measurements of the electrical properties of the membrane such as conductance and capacitance can be made in six wells in the same experiment allowing the study of conductance changes resulting from the insertion of ion channels into the membrane. Offset voltages of +/- 0.0 to 0.5 may be applied.

    On USB port to your computer provides both the electrical power to drive the reader and allows for flexible data analysis and display.

     

 

Mobile Layer Lipid

  • One Vial of Mobile Layer Lipid Solution The vial contains 1 mL solution of diphytanyletherphosphatidylcholine and Glycerodiphytanylether in pure alcohol in the ratio 70:30, with a total lipid concentration 3mM.

SDx Connector Box

The SDx Connector Box allows the use of t-BLM cartridges with your own impedance reader. The Box has no measurement capabilities but has contacts to take an SDx cartridge and connectors at the rear to interact with your measuring equipment.

 

The eDAQ ER466 potentiostat that have been shown to have suitable physical connectivity, high quality electrical output and software to read SDx tethaPlate Membranes

Syringe Pump

A six channel flow cell cartridge and fluidic drive system provide 100nL flow cell volume per track at flow rates from 1uL/min to 500uL/min. These are software controlled to permit both accurate and programmable flow rates.

96 Well Plate Reader

This format applies the same principles of the tethered membrane technology measurement to a 96 well microtitre plate suitable for high throughput screening of ion channel drug candidates. A convenient pogo-pin connector allows 96 well plates to be loaded from above requiring the same footprint as a standard 96 well microtitre plate and permitting unimpeded access for pipetting robotics.
